On April 29th the entire 7th grade walked to the Passaic River in the Bergen County Park.

As part of our science studies, we are learning about the environment and the things we can

do to help.  As part of our stewardship to our Planet Earth, we participated in a River Clean Up.

With help from the Passaic River Valley Water Commission, we walked the banks and picked up

garbage with gloves provided to us along with the bags to dispose of all the garbage.  Do you

know what the most common article of garbage was?  Dunkin Donuts coffee cups; makes

you think doesn't it?

Thank you to Mrs. Carfora of Nu-Way Concessionaires
and Mrs. Melok, Mrs. Reilly and Mrs. McCann for
another "delicious" year of school lunches!  This
year's meetings "Kids-4-Wellness" have been very well
received by our students and very successful for
everyone.

On Saturday, May 3, Ms. Rosemary Assisi was honored by
Queen of Peace Council, Knights of Columbus for
"Catholic Grammar School Teacher of the Year."
  She
received a plaque in grateful recognition of her
outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and leadership.
Her positive inspiration is a joy in the lives of the
students she teaches.  Congratulations Ms. Rosemary!

Both 2A and 2B decorated brown bags for Earth Day.
Each student decorated a brown bag to show how to
recycle.  The bags are from Stop and Shop.  If you
shop on April 22, you will get a decorated Earth Day bag.

Prayer Partners Meet
On Wednesday April 16, 2A (Ms. Rosemary's class) and
7A (Mrs. Hennessy's class) met to begin a service
project in honor of Pope Benedict XVI.  The students
created beautiful cards and posters for children who
are ill
.  These beautiful creations will be sent to
Hackensack Hospital to bring cheer to theses young
patients.  It was truly a worthwhile cause and , as
you can see, everyone had a great time completing this project.

Books are fun and Mrs. A's Pre-K4 class found that out
Thursday, April 10th when they visited the North
Arlington Library.  The children went on a tour of the
library and learned all about the different parts of
the library, especially the children's section that
includes lots of great books, stories on tape and a
computer.  The best part of the visit was meeting Mrs.
Maria, the children's librarian .  Mrs. Maria read
special books celebrating "Earth Day."  After hearing
Mrs. Maria's stories, the children talked about how to
help the Earth's environment by recycling and going Green.
Before leaving, the children sang special song to Mrs.
Maria about the Planet Earth.
