Jason Figuero , Joshua Figuero, and Connor Borrelli were
the winners in the Pinewood Derby
held by the Cub Scouts on Saturday January 26, in the Queen of
Peace's auditorium , Congratulations!
Part of the fun is the friendly competition to discover the
fastest cars.
A derby involving dozens of cars requires careful planning to manage. The
scoring system needs to be fair and clear.
Many packs use tracks with electronic finish lines that
automatically determine the placement of racers for
every heat of a derby. Some tracks
also have the ability to measure the speed of each car on a computer.
The race is a terrific way to bring families together and
increase interest in Scouting.
The real winners of a Pinewood DerbyŽ are all the Cub Scouts
and adults working together to build and enter their race
cars.

Congratulations
to the following students who have had their poetry published in The Acclaimed,
the 2011 Poetry Collection of the

Queen of Peace Elementary entered the Queen of
Peace High School's First Annual Essay Contest. Each student received a
certificate for participation and our 8th grader
Caroline Terranova placed third place.
Congratulations Caroline!
