Welcome back from Mrs. Naughton

welcomeback

Dear Queen of Peace Grammar School Families,

Welcome back!  I hope your summer was fun, safe, restful, and filled with great family memories.  I hope you also made the time to refresh your spirit for the new school year. I missed you!

Welcome to what promises to be another wonderful school year at Queen of Peace Grammar School.  Parents, the administration and faculty looks forward to a strong, collaborative partnership with you to support your child throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Our school is truly blessed as we continue together in its mission:

The mission of Our Lady Queen of Peace Elementary School is to empower our students with Catholic teaching, morality, and traditions as well as knowledge and academic skills that will enable them to embrace the challenges of the future in a constantly changing world.

Please be aware that although arrival times have not changed, the late bell will be 5 minutes earlier, now 8:05 AM.  Daily student-led prayers will begin at the time.  Please plan accordingly as classes will begin at 8:15AM.  Also, second lunch, for grades 5 through 8 will begin 15 minutes later at 12:25 PM.

A new year provides so many possibilities of growth in learning, in faith, in friendships, and in service to others. I encourage every student and parent to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. We anticipate a very positive, productive year together and extend a special, yearlong invitation to join us at school activities and events whenever you can.  We want, we need, and we value your involvement and support in your child’s education.

The decision in providing the gift of a Catholic education has life-long benefits.  Pope Francis spoke of the importance of a rigorous, faith-based education:

Our generation will show that it can rise to the promise found in each young person when we know how to give them space. This means that we have to create the material and spiritual conditions for their full development; to give them a solid basis on which to build their lives; to guarantee their safety and their education to be everything they can be; to pass on to them lasting values that make life worth living; to give them a transcendent horizon for their thirst for authentic happiness and their creativity for the good; to give them the legacy of a world worthy of human life; and to awaken in them their greatest potential as builders of their own destiny, sharing responsibility for the future of everyone. If we can do all this, we anticipate today the future that enters the world through the window of the young.

Thank you for your investment in and continued support of Queen of Peace Grammar School. It is going to be an awesome year!

Blessings and peace,

Ellen Naughton
